The project for diversion of 0.022Ha forest land is Valkaradu Reserved Forest and Paramasivan Kovil Reserved Land of Theni Range and it doesn’t fall in Eco Sensitive Zone ESZ of Megamalai and Kodaikanal Wildlife Sanctuaries and also does not falls under Ecologically Sensitive Area ESA . Proposed site doesn’t have any important monuments / heritage site and is devoid of vegetation as it is 0.373 km along the existing road side from Bus Stand to Sivaji Nagar across Valkaradu RF and 0.365 km along existing road side from Bus Stand to District Collector Office,Theni. The District Collector has certified there is no alternate non forest land, the User Agency has not carried out any work in violation of provisions of Forest Conservation Act, 1980. Since the project aims to provide improvement of Communication infrastructure and Hon’ble Prime Ministers vision of Digital India, the diversion of 0.022Ha. of forest land may be permitted.

The underground OFC has proposed to be laid 0.373 km along the right side of the existing road from Theni new bus stand to Shivaji Nagar across Valkaradu RF and 0.365 km Theni new bus stand to District Collector s office across Paramasivan Koilkaradu RL. the proposed width of the trench is 0.30 m and depth of the trench is 1.20 m. There is no felling of trees involved in this proposal hence the diversion of forest land to an extent of 0.022 ha. may be considered.
