1. I inspected the area on 17.10.2020 and 19.10.2020 and found that the proposed linear area of 0.825 Ha for laying Optical Fiber Cable OFC falls within Thadagam Reserved Forests, Gobinari Reserved Forests, Nellithurai Reserved Forests, and Melur Slope Reserved Forests. The area requested by the User Agency is in the road edge of Thadagam – Anaikatti road, Gobanari – Tholampalayam road, Velliyangadu – Ansur Check post Athikadavu Mulli – Perumpallam Udhagamandalam District Border roads. 2. Thadagam – Anaikatti road travels a short distance 4.00 Km in Thadagam Reserved Forests. Gobanari – Tholampalayam road travels a short distance 4.10 Km in Gobanari Reserved Forests. Velliyangadu – Ansur Check post Athikadavu – Mulli – Perumpallam road travels a distance of 8.30 Km in Gobanari Reserved Forests Ansur check post to Athikadavu , 4.80 Km in Nellithurai Reserved Forests Athikadavu Mulli and 6.30 Km in Melur Slope Reserved Forests Mulli – Perumpallam . The extent of area is 27500 m length, 30 cm width and the total area required is 0.825 ha. There is no need to fell any trees for this project and it will not affect the flora and fauna of the area. Hence there is no negative impact on Forest and Wildlife. 3. The proposed area for diversion does not have any archeological and heritage related monuments. 4. There is no Tribal Right affected by this project. 5. Flagship species like tiger is available in these Reserved Forests. Since, this linear project on the edge of the roads, there is no threat to major wildlife species. 6. This project in Thadagam Reserved Forests, Gobinari Reserved Forests, Nellithurai Reserved Forests, and Melur Slope Reserved Forests has minimum effects on environment. Hence I recommend that an area of 0.825Ha. of Forest land in the Thadagam Reserved Forests, Gobinari Reserved Forests, Nellithurai Reserved Forests, and Melur Slope Reserved Forests in Coimbatore, Periyanaickenpalayam and Karamadai Ranges of Coimbatore Forest Division may be diverted for laying Optical Fiber Cable OFC on the edge of Thadagam – Anaikatti road, Gobanari – Tholampalayam road, Velliyangadu – Ansur Check post Athikadavu Mulli – Perumpallam Udhagamandalam District Border road.
