The area proposed comes under Protection Working Circle where the normal forest protection activities including fire protection is prescribed.

The project involves laying of underground cable for 11 KV transmission line to a length of 1.7 km at a depth of 1.2 m along the road side. Vulnerability to erosion is minimum.

The Periyar Tiger Reserve is situated at an approximate aerial distance of four km from the proposed site. The present work proposed is laying of UG cable of 11 KV which is a very minor work with little disturbance. No trees are required to be felled in the project site. The ecological impact of the project is nil as far as the protected area is concerned.

The required area proposed is the bare minimum and would not cause much impact on the Forest eco system. The ecological impact caused due to diversion is negligible as the proposed project is underground linear with a total area requirement of 0.04 ha and no tree felling is involved. The area does not include National Park, Elephant Corridor, Tiger Reserve or Biosphere Reserve area, hence recommended. Under the above circumstances, the proposal for diversion is recommended for acceptance.
