KannurCCF Northern CircleDFO RecommendedThe proposed area of 0.10 Ha is a part of Reserve Forest in RS No.9/2 of Pinarayi with an extent of 0.61 Ha. The mangroves are only found along the edge of the road side. Since the area is proposed is to small in extent and mangroves are only in a small strip, it is recommended the proposed bridge and approach road can be constructed diverting the land. The bridge is on the Thalassery Irikkur Road which connects places like Kannur International Airport, Pinarayi and Irikkur and will be helpful for the public. As the Kannur Airport is now functional, it is necessary for this bridge to be reconstructed to accommodate traffic from Thalassery town to the Airport.
CCF Northern CircleCF RecommendedOriginally the area was in the possession of PWD department, but under the Mission Mangrove Project in Kannur District all the mangrove areas under various Govt. departments were mutated in favour of Forest department and notified as a Reserve Forest. More over this smaller extent of 0.10 ha is essential for widening the road and there is no any other alternative route, hence recommended for diversion.Yes
Nodal Officer RecommendedThis extent is essential for widening the road and there is no other alternative. Hence the proposal is recommended.
