The proposed project area is 4.3 Km away from Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary. This area does not fall the habitat of any endangered or rare species of plants and animals. The proposed project is within the own premises of Cochin Shipyard Ltd land. Hence the proposal is recommended.

The site being one that is presently in use for industrial purpose already, it is felt that the proposed expansion of it to a facility for International Ship Repair would not cause damage to the ecology in any manner. The proposed project would also not cause any threat to the Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary which is about 4.3 Km away. The site is in the thick of industrial operations and is not on the migratory path of wild animals. I am therefore of the view that the project may be accorded permis
