The proposed area falls within the Pampadum Shola National Park which is under the Shola National Parks Range of this Division. The proposed area falls on the side of the road passing through the Pampadum Shola National Park from Top Station Check Post to the Check Post at Manathalam which comes to about 4.8 km. Along the side of the road, 35 pits having the dimension of 1m L x 0.4 m B x 1 m D will be dugged to lay the Optical Fibre Cable. These pits will be connected by using Horizontal Directional Drilling Machine, so that there is no need for digging the entire length of 4.8 km. Since the area falls along the road side , the area do not have any rare , endangered / unique species of flora and fauna. Moreover there are no protected / archaeological/ heritage site / defence / establishment located in the proposed area. No works in violation of Forest conservation Act will be carried out in the area. Area proposed, ie, 0.0035 ha is maximum required for the proposed project. Hence, it is recommended to divert 0.0035 ha of Forest Land temporarily for the implementation of laying of Optical Fibre Cable. The user agency should cover up the trench and restore the Forest Land and hand it over to Forest Department. Since the proposed project area falls along the road side and the user agency has already promised to cover the trench and restore the area, there is no negative impact to the Forest area due the project. Wildlife clearance for the above project is sanctioned as per GO Rt No.48/2020/F&WLD Dated 05.03.2020 and Rs. 50 Lakh remitted by the agency for compensatory Afforestation. Hence the application for Forest clearance of user agency may considered favourably.
