Bankura NorthCentralDFO RecommendedGas authority of India has applied for permission for laying Jagdishpur Haldia –Bokaro Dhamra Pipe line 30’/24’’/12’’ gas pipe line along with OFC/Duct through Forest. The said proposal falls under Saltora range of Bankura North Division. The area involved in the proposal which is passing through forest area under Bankura North division is 0.645ha. The plots comprising forest land are as follows. Range Village Survey No Land applied for diversion ha Saltora Jahurbana 1 0.269 126 0.376 Total 0.645 The said land was inspected by the undersigned for diversion purpose of the said proposed gas pipe line. It was found that the above said land is the bare minimum land considered for the project and is not avoidable. The said area does not fall under any wildlife corridor. The said proposal is part of original alignment for which land diversion is already recommended. The alternate proposals involve more forest land hence the current proposal for forest land diversion over an area of 0.645ha is recommended for laying of Jagdishpur Haldia –Bokaro Dhamra Pipe line. It is linear project passing through states of Jharkhand and west Bengal. The alignment is elected based on the least forest area involved principle. alternate routes may involve more forest area and may cause disturbence to wildlife corridors.
CentralCF RecommendedSince the proposed pipeline of GAIL is a linear project requiring minimal diversion of forest area and since this project, once completed, has the potential of bringing enormous socio economic benefits to many states, including West Bengal, the recommendation is justified.Yes
Nodal Officer RecommendedThe project is bare minimum forest are required.
