1. I inspected the site on 04.6.2022 and found that the proposed non linear area of 4.85 Ha for the improvement of 230 KV substation into 400 KV substation falls within Pillur Slope Reserved Forests, Manar beat, Karamadai Range. 2. The proposed area for diversion does not have any archeological and heritage related monuments. 3. This area was leased out to Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, the same User Agency prior 1961. 4. The project area contains unutilized and damaged Tamil Nadu Electricity Board staff quarters old vehicle shed and consist of 116 Nos of Naturally grown trees and 83 Nos of Planted trees. These 199 trees are enumerated for removal for this project. 5. I recommend that an area of 4.85 Ha. of Forest land in the Pillur Slope Reserved Forests, Manar beat in Karamadai Range of Coimbatore Forest Division may be diverted for the improvement of 230 KV substation into 400 KV substation subject to the following condition. i Permission from the Hon’ble Supreme Court for felling of 116 naturally grown trees. ii Payment of prescribed Net Present Value. iii Payment of Compensatory Afforestation Fund required Estimate enclosed iv Any other conditions stipulated during the process of Forest Conservation Act. v Exploring the possibility of translocation of old trees instead of felling wherever possible.
