Working plan prescription for the forest land proposed for diversion :
The area falls under Srivilliputhur Megamalai Tiger Reserve. The Tiger Conservation Plan is under Preparation. Megamalai RF, Myladumparai Bit 47 RL and Myladumparai Bit 39 RL is part of the Tiger Reserve. A length of 2352.2 m of the road in Megamalai RF is an admitted right as per the Megamalai Reserved Forest Notification but, there is variation in the alignment from the RF notification.

Brief note on vulnerability of the forest area to erosion :
The existing ghat cutting on the road side in Myladumparai Bit 39 RL and the first 428 m of road in Megamalai RF is minimally susceptible to erosion.

The road falls in Megamalai RF, Myladumparai Bit 39 RL and Myladumparai Bit 47 RL which are part of the Srivilliputhur Megamalai Tiger Reserve. It is an existing road. The road passing through the RLs are not finding mention in the records. The road connects Thummakundu village with Varusanadu. The road and the village are mentioned in the Megamalai Reserved Forest Notification.

The road is an existing bitumen road in the forest and non forest land. It is the means of communication and transport to the Thummakundu Village Panchayat. The road is an access to people of Manalathukudisai, Komalikudisai, Thummakundu, Valiparai and Thandiankulam hamlets. There exists a right of way in the Megamalai RF notification for the road portion in the said RF. The road connects Varusanadu to Valiparai via Thummakundu and is a termination at Valiparai. The road is to be considered for the welfare of the bona fide inhabitants only.

The proposed road from Valiparai to Thummakundu in Varusanadu Range of Megamalai Division falls in Myladumparai Bit 39 RL Myladumparai Bit 47 RL and Megamalai RF of Srivilliputhur Megamalai Tiger Reserve and forest area of 1.8871 ha. is proposed for diversion. The total length and width proposed for upgradation is 3759.6 meters and 5 meters respectively including 50 cm berm on both sides. Therefore, an area of 1.8798 hectares or 18798 sq.m. can be considered for diversion.
