While declaring the Mallur Reserved Forests under section 16 of Tamilnadu Forest Act 1882 there is a admitted right off way was allowed to connect the Pattanam Village via Vadugamelur which is situated at Foot hills of the Mallur Reserved Forests connecting Keelur Melur villages which is situated hill top to a distance of 1 ½ miles 2.4 Km to a width of 4 Feet. As per the proposals of the User Agency it is proposed to form the road from Vadugamelur to Keelur village of distance of 23.625 Km. Out of which 12.95 Km falls in Mallur Reserved Forests Km 0/100 to Km 13/050 . The total area of 5.96 Ha. was calculated as per the area surveyed with a minimum width of 4.5m. From the inspection it has been noticed that it is not possible to improve the existing right of way as a motorable road in view of its abnormal/improper gradient. Hence new alignment has been proposed following the admissible gradient for road formation for easy movement of vehicles. Further there are 260 spontaneous Grown Trees are to be felled in the road alignment area. The road formation will provide communication facilities to the 956 tribal living in the area and get benefit of education, primary health, marketing facilities , employment, etc.. which will in turn improve the socio economic status of the poor tribal community. Considering all the above aspects I am recommending for Diversion of 5.96Ha. for the above project.
