Working plan prescription for the forest land proposed for diversion :
Part I of Working Plan of Namakkal Forest Division has specified that proposed forest area for diversion comes under Southern tropical dry mixed deciduous forest (5A/C3).

The proposed area for diversion has very lesser degree of erosion where ever small streams are passing through.

While declaring the Puthupatty Reserved Forests under section 16 of Tamilnadu Forest Act 1882 there is a admitted right off way was allowed to connect the Kedamalai Village and Pudhupatty in Pudhupatty Reserved Forests to a distance of 3 miles and 2 furlongs 5.23 Km to a width of 3 Yards 2.74 m . As per the proposals of the User Agency it is proposed to form the road from Pdhupatty to Kedamalai village of distance of 11.375 Km. Out of which the reach of 2/9 to 7/6 Km falls in Pudhupatty Reserved Forests. The total area of 2.71 Ha. was calculated as per the area surveyed with a minimum width of 4.5m. From the inspection it has been noticed that it is not possible to improve the existing right of way as a motorable road in view of its abnormal/improper gradient. Hence new alignment has been proposed following the admissible gradient for road formation for easy movement of vehicles. Further there are 102 spontaneous Grown Trees are to be felled in the road alignment area. The road formation will provide communication facilities to the 502 tribal living in the area and get benefit of education, primary health, marketing facilities , employment, etc.. which will in turn improve the socio economic status of the poor tribal community. Considering all the above aspects I am recommending for Diversion of 2.71 Ha. for the above project.
