The Proposed area for diversion is 0.127Ha in Arasalur Reserve Forest, Tiruchiappalli Range, Tiruchirappalli Forest Division. I have inspected the Arasalur Reserve Forest, and the proposed area for the diversion of 0.127Ha for the construction foot bridge which will carry the drinking water to the 138 Habitations of Thottiyam Union of Tiruchirappalli District on 27.04.2021. The Forest Range Officer, Trichy and Forest Range Officer, TAFCORN accompanied me during the inspection. The proposed area falls within the Arasalur Reserve Forest and leased out to TAFCORN since 1974. Eucalypts tereticornis plantation was raised during the year 2015 and currently harvesting is going on. Other then Eucalypts plantation, there are no indigenous trees or vegetations available in the Reserve Forests. Therefore no felling of trees is required. I recommended this project for welfare of the village in Thottiyam Union. The proposed area is bare minimum and it is not part of any wildlife sanctuary and wildlife corridor. There is no alternate land is available. Hence, I recommended the proposal.
