Working plan prescription for the forest land proposed for diversion :
Carrying out reforestations through local indigenous and other suitable species of economic value and with moisture conservation treatment. Providing protection through sustainable forest management with participation of people.

Brief note on vulnerability of the forest area to erosion :
The Reserved Land is located on the bank of Thamirabarani river. The area is plain and covered by planted Babul trees. The vulnerability of the area to soil erosion is low.

In the proposed area there are 25 numbers of planted babul trees and 18.9655 ton of Prosophis Juliflora, which have to be removed for carrying out the works in the proposed area. The wildlife movement in the proposed 0.9896 ha is limited. The construction of Check Dam does not pose any danger to the Forest area and Wildlife in the region. Hence the proposal is recommended.

In the proposed Check Dam construction area, there is presence 25 Nos of planted babul plantation and existence of Prosophis juliflora , which was assessed and reported by the District Forest officer Thoothukudi , weighing 18.9655 M.T. These Babul, Prosophis has to be removed before starting the work. The wildlife movements is limited in the said area . The construction of check dam does not pose any threat to the forest and wildlife in the region. The Compensatory Afforestation plan proposed by District Forest officer Thoothukudi is recommended. Construction of Check Dam may improve the water table around 1km radius as reported , will be helpful for 1500 Acres of Agricultural land besides availability surplus drinking water for local people. Hence recommended.
