Significance of the forest land proposed for diversion from wildlife point of view
(i).
Details of wildlife present in and around the forest land proposed for diversion :
The wildlife noticed in the area are Wildlife like Hanuman (Presbytis entlellus entellus), Odha (Lutra perspicillata perspicillata), Gunduchimusa (Funambulus Pennanti) and Musa (Rattus rattus rufescens) are seen in the forest land proposed for diversion but their population is very thin. Birds like Tentei (Vanellus malabaricus) Koili (Eudynamys scolopacea scolopacea),Kubhati (Centropus sinensis Parroti), Kopata (Streptopelia decaocto decaocto), Damara Kua (Curvas macrohyachos culmintatus) etc are seen. Common reptiles and lizards like Dhanda sapa (Enhydris enhydris), Dhamana Sapa (Elephe radiata), Chitti Sapa (Dendrelaphis ahaetulla), Naga Sapa (Naga naja kothia), common garden lizards are seen in the area.

This newly proposed alignment starts at km 0/0 NH 49 and ends at km 2/971 Jorabaga near Bandhabahal and MCL Coal field area. This road will be the most convenient road for the traffic coming in and around MCL area, OPGC Banharpali , TRL, Ind Barathetc and more importantly traffic from Sambalpur district through newly constructed IB bridge to the NH 49 bypassing Belpahar town. This road will be an important connecting link between 2 districts Jharsuguda and Sambalpur , which will serve as a life line for about 2.0 lakhs population in 60 villages under 11 Gram Panchayats and Belpahar municipality. The construction of this bypass road will go a long way in uplifting the social economic condition of people belonging to this area besides diverting the unsafe industrial traffic. The Road passes through Belpahar village. This road is the only means for communication for the people of Belpahar Town and Bandhabahal, LakhnpurTahasil to reach their district level offices etc. the people of this village will get benefit directly as this village are on the road However about 2.0 lakhs population in 60 villages under 11 Gram Panchayats will get benefit directly and indirectly after construction of this road.
