It is a plain and Ghat Road. The terrain is undulating and prone to soil erosion. Due to thick vegetation on both sides erosion is controlled.

all aspects involved in forest diversion, Economic growth of the area and Socio – Economic condition of the locality and to have rapid movement, diversion of 7.722 ha of Forest land of Kandhamal District u/s 2 ii of Forest Conservation Act,1980 is recommended for Up Gradation of Existing 2 lane road to 2 lane with Paved shoulder 1.5m on both sides of the existing Road NH 157 . This will allow speedy movement in this left wing affected district and also help in socio economic growth of the area/ district. Movement from western Odisha to Coastal area will be less time consuming.
