The scheme envisages construction of a barrage at village Anlabani in Jashipur Block of Mayurbhanj district across Kharibhandan river. The Khairbhandan Barrage Project will irrigate 6950 ha of command area with 100% intensity during Kharif. At present there are no other sources of irrigation in this chronically drought prone area, inhabited mostly by backward, weaker and tribal groups of Mayurbhanj district. The project on completion would improve the economic condition of the people of Jashipur, Sukruli & Raruan block as they fully depend on the agriculture to earn their livelihood.
