Working plan prescription for the forest land proposed for diversion :
The Deemed Forest area consist of Plantation area which are located outside the notified Forest area. The Working Plan has given prescription for maintenance and thinning of trees of plantation and general protection measures from fire, illegal felling, etc in other areas.

Brief note on vulnerability of the forest area to erosion :
The proposed area is moderately vulnerable to erosion. Being a hilly region, some of the areas are also prone to landslides.

The proposed widening project is for the already existing road and no record of wildlife damage was observed.

The Project entitled construction of 2 langing with hard shoulder of NH 302 in the state of Mizoram under Bharatmala Pariyona on epic mode is running westward from Lunglei to Tlabung crossing R. Phairuang, R. Tuichawng upto R. Khawthlangtuipui RRF and some deeming forests along the road. There is no other way to construct road without crossing the said Forest Reserved. The road will provide better communication and transportation for people living around Bangladesh border.

This is with reference to the Project Proposal No. FP/MZ/ROAD/139992/2021 for “Construction of 2 laning with hard shoulder configuration of NH 302 and NH54 A from Lunglei Tlabung section of NH 302 in the State of Mizoram Under Bharatmala Pariyojana on EPC Mode”. As informed by the Divisional Forest Officers in their reports, while inspecting the site undersigned has also found that violation has taken place and the same is reflected in the site inspection report . However, considering the importance of the project, it is hereby recommended for approval subject to compliance of relevant conditions of Forest Conservation Act, 1980, realization of the required amount for the Compensatory Afforestation CA / NPV / Penal CA from the User Agency.
