The existing Irang Bridge is in a very bad condition which often leads to frequent blockage of passage of vehicles in the region, thereby obstructing the movement of goods and services in the State. The bridge on the Irang river serves as the connecting link between Imphal and various parts of the State like Tamenglong, Nungba etc. and also with the State of Assam through Jiribam and further to other North Eastern States. The area proposed for diversion of forest land is also barest minimum and will not affect much to the forests and wildlife of the area.
