The proposal for widening and improvement of NH 202 into two laning is for improvement of road connectivity from Yaingangpokpi to Ukhrul, then to Nagaland. Proposed forest area for diversion is barest minimum and no alternate possible alignments are seen. The proposal for diversion of 12.6907 hectare forest land in Yaingangpokpi RF and Khamenlok Gwaltabi RF under Central Forest Division, Imphal is recommended subject to the following conditions a Disposal of excess earth, if any, shall be as per approved Muck Disposal Plan. If excess hill earth is to be transported outside the plan area, the same may be done as per provisions provided under the IFA 1927 and Manipur Forest Rules 1971. b Adequate measures to check soil erosion and land slide may be taken up at the project cost.
