The proposed bridge will replace the existing old timber bridge which has become weak due to age and the increase in the vehicle load with the expansion of the town. the bridge connects Williamnagar, headquarters of East Garo Hills District with the rest of the state and is a lifetime to the economy, administrative functions and security of the area the region being prone to many underground movements. CF
Recommended
The proposed project construction of a new RCC bridge across is to replace the old dilapidated bridge on PWD Road from Tura to Williamnagar and to Nongawalbibra. It is vital because there is absolutely no other option to approach to Williamnagar from Tura and Resubelpara, the District headquarters of West Garo Hills and North Garo Hills respectively. The proposed project also includes construction of new approach to one end of the new RCC bridge that requires 0.0474 hectare or approximately 0.1 hectare of forest land of Rongrenggiri Reserve Forests. The use of this land is also absolutely unavoidable. When we consider providing such important infrastructure providing better road connectivity to the region to better the socio economic condition of the citizens of the area, sacrificing the bare minimum of above forest land is well justified.

Nodal Officer
Recommended
The bridge will provide connectivity between Williamnagar and rest of the State and thus ensure socioeconomic development of the area.
