The proposed project stretches along an a pre-existing NH 44. The road network would improve the connectivity of Garo Hills region with the rest of the state. This would not only bolster the local economy but the economy of the state as a whole. The road connectivity shall strengthen the Government administration of remote parts of the state. The improved road network should also improve the law and order situation of the region affected by poor security.

CF
Recommended
The proposed road project in Garo Hills portion passes through innumerable villages and small towns of East and West Garo Hills districts. It is therefore a vital infrastructure in the region that will boost the all round development of the region and shall provide improved road connectivity to the important towns like Nongstoin in Khasi Hills region, Williamnagar and Tura in Garo Hills region of Meghalaya. The forest clearance for the project is therefore recommended.
Yes
Nodal Officer
Recommended
The project concerns expansion of existing NH44 from Shillong to Tura via Nongstoin. The road network would improve the connectivity of Garo Hills region with the rest of the state.
