The proposal pertains to diversion of 0.043 Ha. of Protected Forest land necessitated for construction of Approach Road towards the RCC Reservoir of capacity 1.72Ml located at Laitkor Protected Forest. The instant project would necessitate felling of 18 nos. of trees, 4 nos of which having girth below 60 cm and 14 nos. with girth above 60 cm. for which ten times the number of trees to be felled i.e., 180 nos. of tall seedlings will be planted. Perused the views of the Conservator of Forests Territorial , Khasi & Jaintia Hills in Part III. Since the project is for construction of the approach road leading to Wahsohkha RCC Reservoir water tank located at Laitkor Protected Forest for supplying potable drinking water, it will be of great importance for the general public residing in Laitkor areas and its neighbouring localities. I therefore, concur to the views of the Divisional Forest Officer T and the Conservator of Forests T for diversion of the forest land for the aforementioned purpose.
