The proposal submitted by the user agency is very much important for mining of lime stone to be used for cement manufacturing to cater the needs of the cement for the developmental works in the state. The proposal mentioned above not only beneficial to cater the needs of the cement in the developmental works in the state but also will generate employments for the public in the district. Considering the above, it is recommended for further processing and to grant approval if deem fit and proper under Section.2 of Forest Conservation Act 1980.
Khasi&Jaintia HillsCF RecommendedThe proposed site located in East Jaintia Hills district was inspected on 22nd July 2021 along with the DFO T concerned and also representatives of Hill Cement Company Ltd. and based on the report of the DFO and my observations during the said inspection this office recommends forest clearance under provisions of FCA – 1980 and corresponding extant Guidelines subject to realization of penalties from the user agency. Since the matter also involves violation of FCA – 1980 appropriate penalties may be imposed accordingly as also indicated in the Inspection Report . Yes
Nodal Officer Recommended The proposal pertains to Mynkre limestone mining by M/s Hills Cement Company Ltd at Mynkre. As per JIT – I report, the proposed land has been found to be a forest land deemed forest and in an inspection conducted by the Conservator of Forests WL & T , Khasi & Jaintia Hills, Shillong and the Divisional Forest Officer, Jaintia Hills T Division, Jowai it was found and confirmed that the land was broken for the purpose of extracting limestone. Since, the matter involved violation of FC Act, 1980, an appropriate penalty may be imposed accordingly to the project proponent. Hence, the proposal is hereby recommended.
