The Chandrapur District is rich in Bamboo and having thousands of tribals as well as Burad community who have been traditionally making Bamboo products like Baskets, Mats etc. All these products are without any artistic touch or value addition. Besides many times they are attacked by wild animals in the forest. Out of the total forest area of Maharashtra State bamboo is found on 13% area. Also out of total production of 2,30,000 M. Tonn of bamboo, 90% bamboo is produced in Gadchiroli & Chan
