The project is a linear project and essential to supply electrical power to the water lifting pump houses constructed on the canal linking the Tunga River catchment with Bhadra Reservoir. The transfer of excess water from the Tunga River to the Bhadra Dam interlinking of rivers will facilitate Irrigation and Drinking water supply for dry Districts of the Karnataka state. User agency has submitted the proposal seeking prior approval of GOI under FC Act 1980 for the diversion of 3.4906 Ha of Kanagalkoppa MF for re diversion and change in land for 220 KV Transmission line work of Upper Bhadra Project, Package I diverted forest land of Upper Tunga Project in Kanagalkoppa village Sy no. 20, 59, 60, 58, 69, 55, 56 of Kanagalkoppa Minor forest and Upper Tunga Project diverted area, Mandagadde Range. There is no Unique species of flora and fauna in the region and also there are no such archaeological / heritage site / defence establishments or any other important monuments located in the proposed area for diversion and hence FC clearance for the above project may be recommended.

The proposed Re diversion site has been inspected by me on 21 11 2020.
