A proposal has been received by this office from Sri Ramakrishna Sharada Ashrama Trust, Bailur, Karkala Taluk, Udupi District for diversion of 4.249 Ha. in Sy. No. 283 of Kukkundoor Village and Sy.No. 354 of Nitte Village Karkala Taluk, Udupi Disitrict. The Proposed area falls under the deemed forest as per directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in their Interim Order dated 12 02 1996 in the Writ Petition Civil No. 202/1995. The subject envisages the use of Deemed forest land for cultural, spiritual and educational theme park and a global monument Complex on Swami Vivekananda in favour of Sri Ramakrishna Sharada Ashrama Trust, Bailur, Karkala Taluk, Udupi District. Inspected the site proposed for diversion on 16 01 2019. I have perambulated the area and cheked it my satisfaction, It is a single rocky out crop without any vegetation. The location doesn’t form part of archeological monument or defense establishment. I did not observe presence of any rare endangered species of flora and fauna or any historical heritage site in the Forest area proposed for diversion. On inspection of the site, it is found that, the land required by the User agency is in a Deemed Forest area measuring 4.249 Ha. The requirement of forest area land as proposed by the User agency in Col. 2 of Part I is unavoidable and it is a barest minimum requirment for the project. The User agency has to pay the NPV and also User agency has to bear the cost of raising of CA plantation. It is a single rocky out crop without any vegetation. Hence recommended for diversion.

Inspected the proposed site of 4.249 ha recommended by the DCF Coondapur for diversion for establishing staue of Swami Vivekananda in sy no 354 and 283 of Nitte village in Karkala taluka of Udupi district. The site has no vegetation and a rocky patch and falls under the deemed forest category.The requirement of forest land is bare minimum devoid of flora and fauna and hence recommended for diversion under FC act by paying necessary NPV and cost of raising CA plantations.
