6. Brief note on vulnerability of the forest area to erosion : The forest area proposed for diversion receives an average annual rainfall of over 3500mm concentrated in the month of June to august.Heavy inflow rain water during mansoon season

8. Significance of the forest land proposed for diversion from wildlife point of view
 (i). Details of wildlife present in and around the forest land proposed for diversion : RET species of fauna like Leopard, Malabar civet,Asian Elephant,Indian Pangolin,King Kobra, Malabar Torrent Tode,Beddomi's Tode,Coorg night frog,Tortoise etc, and flora viz. Calophyllum apetalum,Cinnamomum sulfafuratum,Diospyros candollena,Hopea ponga,Vanda spathulata etc. present in and around the forest land proposed for diversion
 (ii). Whether forms part of national park, wildlife sanctuary, biosphere reserve,tiger reserve, elephant corridor, wildlife migration corridor etc. : Yes
  Details and comments on the impact of Project on such areas : The project involves diversion for laying throgh underground OFC cable line and it does not involve cutting of any trees, diversion of any flow of stream. As proposed by the User Agency underground laying of OFC cable causes minimum damage to the proposed ground vegetation. So, the User Agency has been instructed to use latest technology which causes minimum damage to the wildlife habitat.
 (iii). Whether the forest land proposed for diversion is located within eco-sensitive zone(ESZ) of the Protected Area notified under Wildlife(Protection) Act,1972 (Note: In case, ESZ of a Protected Area is not notified,then,10kms distance from boundary of the Protected Area should be treated as ESZ): Yes
  Details of Protected Area and comments on the impact of Project on the ESZ : The project does not involve cutting of any trees, diversion of any flow of stream.So, there is minimum impact on the wildlife habitat.

The proposed forest land for laying of underground OFC is in dense evergreen forest area with a canopy density of 1.00 and falls in the Eco class 1. The User Agency has submitted a report that the project does not involve cutting of any trees and it involves only laying of the OFC Cable underground. Above ground level no structures will be constructed. Hence, this proposal is justified for clearance under Forest Conservation Act 1980. Yes
