The proposal has been received from the Executive Engineer Jal Shakti PHE Department Ganderbal for diversion of 0.29 Ha of forest land for construction of Water Supply Scheme WSS Sumbal Balla Surfraw. The area falls in Compartment 34/Sindh of Forest Range Sindh Kangan and is part of Reboisement Working Circle. The area has relatively less dense vegetation with the optimum density is 30 40%. Since the area to be diverted is very less, it may not have that much of profound impact on the wildlife as well as the flora. As such the project is recommended for diversion subject to the conditions as envisaged in the Site Inspection Report as well as in Part II 8. v of the application.

The proposal involves diversion of forest land to the extent of 0.29 ha. The facility is urgently required by the User Agency for supplying drinking water to the villages of Sumbal Bala and Surfraw. The water source has to be tapped through forest for which use of forest land is indispensable.
