5. Working plan prescription for the forest land proposed for diversion : Compartments involved in forest land proposed for diversion are 49/U, 54/U, 55/U and 56/U of Udhampur Range falls under the Chir selection working circle:. Prescription proposed: As per Chir selection working circle, in areas where regeneration has failed to come up on its own, artificial measures to be initiated. Patch sowing of chir is carried out where favorable soil-moisture conditions exist. In blank areas close to habitation planting is to be carried out after fencing the area. Compartments 50/U, 51/U, 52/U and 58a/U of Udhampur Range falls under the Rehabilitation cum Reboisment working circle. Prescription proposed: The reboisment and rehabilitation of degraded forest areas along with necessary soil moisture conservation measures will be carried out along with afforestation work. The working circle has been constituted with the objective of creating multiple product zones so that these forests act as a buffer to the well stocked core forests. These forests will be managed to meet the fuel, fodder and Non timber forest produce (NTFP) requirement of the people.
6. Brief note on vulnerability of the forest area to erosion : As the terrain is hilly, all possible preventive measures will have to be taken by the user agency for preventing the possibility of soil erosion.
