Aie ValleyC.F Lower Assam Social Forestry Circle, BongaigaonDFO RecommendedThe proposed diversion proposal namely Up gradation of existing Jogighopa to Swahid Bedi near Bongaigaon road Proposal no. FP/AS/ROAD/46680/2020 shall provide better road communication from Bongaigaon to Joghighopa. However, the proposed road falling at Bhairab reserve forest which is one of the highest potential habitat of the endangered Golden langur species at Bongaigaon district, Assam. The enumerated 303 trees to be felled in the proposed road alignment may affect the habitat of the endangered primates. But during site inspection it is observed that the User Agency proposed the peripheral area of the reserve forest for the expansion of the existing road and the 303 numbers of enumerated trees to be felled adjacent to the peripheral of the reserve forest area. Therefore, the diversion for the forest land which is the barest minimum required is recommended subject to implementation of the mitigation measures for safeguarding the habitat of endangered Golden langur by the User Agency as per guidelines.
C.F Lower Assam Social Forestry Circle, BongaigaonCF RecommendedThe proposed diversion proposal namely Up gradation of existing Jogighopa to SwahidBedi near Bongaigaon road Proposal no. FP/AS/ROAD/46680/2020 has been aimed at better road communication with improvement of the existing road only from Bongaigaon to Joghighopa which already existed since long back. However, the proposed road falling at Bhairab reserve forest is one of the highest potential habitat of the endangered species called Golden langur which is endemic only to this part of the state of Assam. The enumerated 303 trees to be felled in the proposed road alignment may affect the habitat of the endangered primates. But during the site inspection of the proposed site, it is observed that the User Agency proposed the peripheral area of the reserve forest for the expansion of the existing road and the 303 numbers of enumerated trees to be felled along the alignment which goes only at the periphery of that portion of the reserved forest without entering into the core area of the same. Therefore, the diversion for the forest land which is required at the barest minimum has been recommended subject to implementation of the mitigation measures for safeguarding the habitat of endangered Golden langur by the User Agency as per guidelines. Yes
