Public Work Road Department, Assam User Agency has submitted a Forest Diversion Proposal No.FP/AS/ROAD/154980/2022 for diversion of forest land under Forest Conservation Act.1980 measuring an area of 2.66 hectare for Construction of Trumpet Interchange at Gauripur Junction, North Guwahati at Sila Reserve Forest under North Kamrup Division, Rangia. The proposed diversion proposal will improve overall road connectivity of the region without causing major damage to the forest and environment provided mitigated measures are implemented by the user agency as per guideline.

There is also a state protected small site under the Ancient Monuments & Record Act, 1959 on the forest land proposed to be diverted for the project. The user agency may consider change in its trumpet design, if feasible, to preserve the site in its current state or it may be safely shifted, if possible to do so, to a suitable location, with proper permission of the competent authority. The diversion of forest land which is the barest minimum required as above is recommended for acceptance.
