ONGC has submitted a proposal No.FP/AS/MIN/46794/2020 for diversion of forest land under section 2 of FC Act, 1980 measuring 3.7574 hectare forest land for exploratory drilling of well LGM in Longai Reserve Forest under Karimganj Forest Division, Karimganj By ONGC, AFB, Exploratory Asset. Silchar, Cachar. The above proposal submitted by ONGC is recommended as proposed by the user agency.

The diversion of 3.7574 Ha. Forest Land under Longai Reserve Forests of Lowairpoa Range, Lowairpoa, Karimganj Forest Division for the purpose of exploratory drilling of well LGM by ONGC, AFB, Exploratory Asset., Silchar, Cachar would not cause any major damage to the forest and environment provided mitigated measures are implemented by the User Agency as per guideline of F.C.Act,1980. As the forest area proposed for diversion is unavoidable and barest minimum required for the project, therefore, the diversion of the forest land as above is recommended for acceptance subject to fulfillment of the terms and conditions of F.C.Act.

The forest diversion proposal of 3.7574 Ha.forest land for drilling of exploratory well, LGM in Longai Reserved Forest by AAFB Exploratory Asset, ONGC, Srikuna, Silchar, Cachar under Karimganj Division in favour of ONGC is hereby recommended with the following condition The Karimganj Forest division where the proposed area exists is rich in Wildlife including Wild Boar, HonumanLangur, Slow Loris, Rhesus Macaque, Python, Green Viper, Migratory Birds etc. Therefore, a 2% of total project cost may be earmarked for HEC mitigation and Wildlife conservation.
