Thoubal Forest DivisionCentral Forest CircleDFO RecommendedThere are a number of developmental projects being taken up in the capital of the State, thereby there is a huge demand of hill earth in and around the Imphal valley. This has increased pressure on Reserved and Protected Forest located near the Imphal valley. The project, if approved will reduce the pressure on these Reserved and Protected Forest. Thus the project is recommended.
Central Forest CircleCF RecommendedHill earth is a much needed material for various developmental works and emergency flood control particularly in the valley of Manipur. Flash flood is regularly happended during rainy season in the valley and damage lot of crops and public properties. There is no approved earth quarry under the Thoubal Forest Division which covers 2 Two Districts namely Thoubal District and Kakching District. As such, there is tendency of illegal excavation of earth even from legally notified Forest lands namely Reserve Forest and Protected Forest. The proposed site of 6 Six hectare falls under Compartment No.24, Yairipok Block of Lipokpi Unclassed Forest under Thoubal Forest Division. Opening of such an earth quarry shall meet demand of earth in the valley and reduce pressure on Reserve Forest and Protected Forest in the Division. In order to meet requirement of hill earth for developmental activities and emergency flood control in the Division, the project proposal for diversion of 6 Six hectare Unclassed forest land is recommended. Yes
Nodal Officer RecommendedInsufficient quarry sites has inconvenienced much development works and the contractors of projects tend to extract stones in unlawful manner. Officially approved quarry sites are required. The project proposal may be approved.
