Significance of the forest land proposed for diversion from wildlife point of view
(i).
Details of wildlife present in and around the forest land proposed for diversion :
Elephant, Hyena, Peacock, Cobra, Wild Pig, Rabbit, Deer, Jackal, Jungle Cat, Parrot, Myna, Sparrow, Neelkanth, Crow etc. Though the proposed site is not the part of any elephant corridor, the elephants every year come and stay at Saradhu PF, Kurlonga PF, Kundi PF, and the impact areas of this project. This year in August and September, elephants heard of more than a dozen wild elephants had stayed in Saradhu Forest. The man - elephant conflict also often happen and this year also three persons lost there lives by wild elephant attack. Damages to crops, houses and injuries to persons are also frequently taking place. With the felling of thousand of trees upon the heels and around the water bodies, the wild life habitat is sure to shrink and disappear. The wildlife management plan has become the need of the project and therefore should be made mandatory provision.
